In March 2015 FrozenShards launced an update, introducing
platoons to the game. At first I became a member in a platoon called: Blitzkrieg. During that period I wrote frequently to the forum and played a
lot of PvP and of course was trying to improve the cards in my deck (Crafting hadn’t been introduced yet). It occurred to me that I seemed to be the only (real) active player in the platoon I was
in and wasn’t quite happy with that situation. Wolf (a very good player in these days) had formed a platoon called: Sunnenblume. I’ve asked him if he would let me in. Assassin (already a member
in that platoon) spoke a few good words for me and later that day I was welcomed in Sunnenblume.
As I gathered a lot of platoonpoints for Sunnenblume every week and wrote
more frequently to the forum Wolf decided that it was time for me to become in officer in Sunnenblume. One other player worth mentioning who became a member to this platoon was
Theo.
We had a lot of fun during those days in Sunnenblume. Eventually Wolf, our
platoonleader bought a playstation and quit the game. With Wolf gone, the platoon started to collapse.
Perhaps I could have taken over the leadership in Sunnenblume but I felt
that this was Wolf’s platoon not mine. On the platoonchat I’ve announced that I would form a new platoon hoping that some players would follow. Eventually Theo came along and Oak Leaves was born.
This must have been somewhere in december 2016.
With Theo as my first officer we started building up Oak Leaves from
scratch. If I remember correctly we made into top 5 then with a 2-person platoon. Luckily for us a few players from Sunnenblume signed up and we got a few very enthusiastic new players.
By the end of December 2017 we decided that it was time to split
up the original platoon. The reason to do so was that we could train/help more new players. The original Oak Leaves platoon was to be renamed: Oak Leaves East. This platoon should be led by
JohnWayne. I would form a new platoon called: Oak Leaves West. The first trouble we’ve encountered was that platoonnames couldn’t be changed. The second problem was that JohnWayne (leading the
East platoon) left the game. The third problem was that because of this and a few problems in my personal life I also stopped playing.
After a few months I’ve rejoined Oak Leaves West. The platoon by then was
quite demoralized. I started rebuilding it again and the first thing I did was to recruit JohnWayne.
Unfortunately JohnWayne stayed with us just a few months before he decided
to join ICU. I still miss our conversations on the chat a lot.
So this is the story of Oak Leaves. At this moment we are weekly in the top
5. Most of the fifth but I’m sure we can do better.
